Harriton, which posted a 2-8 record last fall under first-year coach Justin Mellor, is looking to move up in the tough Central League for the 2014 campaign.
Key returnees include senior tight end/outside linebacker Sam Schlichting (6-4, 240), who made 41 tackles in only four games last fall and received All-Central League honorable mention at linebacker; senior wide receiver/defensive back Jordan O'Donnell (5-10, 170); and senior offensive lineman/linebacker Jake Ryan (6-0, 180).
Other Rams to to watch this fall include junior quarterback/defensive back Patrick Stewart (6-0, 175); senior running back/defensive back Eddie Byrd III (5-9, 165); senior running back/linebacker Justin Bianchi (5-9, 170); junior running back/linebacker Zach Geiger (5-10, 170); junior lineman Zach Zuzelo (6-0, 175); and sophomore offensive lineman/linebacker Will Thomas (6-0, 175).
The Rams did lose some key players to graduation, including wide receiver/defensive back Miron Hayes (now playing for Bloomsburg), quarterback/linebacker Evan Rosen, running back/linebacker Dave Stewart (now playing lacrosse for Fairleigh Dickinson) and lineman
Tom Bernicker (playing for Millersville).
Harriton has 45 players on its roster this fall, and Mellor said, “We’ll look to all of them to contribute to a successful season. From senior to freshman, the effort and attention to detail has been impressive. We’ll need to stay healthy in order to compete in the very tough Central League.”
